I'm a design student, and I use this document tube to carry my drawings on the bus/train to and from school. It's very sturdy for day to day use; I could see this carrier be able handle quite a bit of manhandling during shipping as well. The telescoping/locking mechanism is also solid, I imagine if I used this for shipping I wouldn't take any chances and just tape it in place anyway. I really like that the minimum length is so small because it's not bulky if I'm carrying smaller drawings--really good flexibility depending on what I'm carrying. The strap is also a good length. The shipping was also ridiculously fast!

I used this to carry my 48x48 poster to a conference. The tube expanded easily to fit the poster. The only negative, as noted by other posters, when the tube is fully expanded, the strap is too tight to carry it around your shoulder. My husband was able to make it longer by cutting it and gluing another strap to it. That worked well.

Works well for travel, but if you are going to extend it all the way, there won't be much slack in the strap.
